Summary/Abstract: The author of this paper elaborates the issue of whistleblowing and first stresses the fact that the corruption is a serious and complex phenomenon and the effective fight against it is a prerequisite for successful Euro-integration of the country. The focus of interest is the whistleblowing as a new tool for fight against the crime and corruption. Without solid legal basis this system would not be implemented in a way to give expected results. The author elaborates in detail important aspects of the Macedonian legislation - the law and the by-laws, concluding that it has not been implemented although it has all the necessary elements covered. A short comparative legal overview is also conducted and ill practice is detected in some of the countries assessed to have best legislation and vice – versa, good practice has been detected in countries that regulate this issue usually the in anti-corruption act. In the concluding remarks, the author stresses out that a solid system needs to be set up in practice in order to provide successful whistleblowers protection.
