Summary/Abstract: Prior to the 2022 Russian military offensive in Ukraine, the general tendency was to consider that the Russian armed forces have all the necessary means to claim the superiority over Ukraine, including within the information environment. Most of the subject-matter experts based their assessments on Russian operational experience, enhanced by the presumptive lessons learned from recent conflicts. Moreover, the in-house military research and development program was focused on providing the Russian armed forces with new technical capacity to secure the advantage from both operational and informational perspectives. However, the Ukrainian forces managed to deliver an unexpected change, by limiting the Russian information advantage and simultaneously developing and exploiting their own.
