Summary/Abstract: Online disinformation has plagued the modern world – society has witnessed how skilfully executed fake news campaigns can help tip the balance of power in democratic elections, or lead to the deaths of hundreds of people. Since Russia’s attack on Ukraine in February 2022, one has seen how physical actions on the battlefield have been carried out in parallel with an extensive disinformation campaign. This article analyses whether the linguistic features of the COVID-19 pandemic fake news headlines have changed, or whether they are the same as those from the time of the 2016 US presidential campaign. This will allow us to examine whether the adversary is learning their lessons and drawing conclusions to better disguise the disinformation.
