Summary/Abstract: Pluricentricity or the concept of pluricentricity has long been present in the ‘language market’, but has been ‘poorly marketed’ until now. The following questions now arise: Why is the pluricentric concept misunderstood, especially by Germans? What hinders its better “marketing”? Why is it rather unpopular with learners (pupils/students)? The market-relevant question, on the other hand, is: what career advantages could learners gain by being familiar with the pluri-centric concept and having specific passive and active knowledge? The article will try to answer all these questions, at least to some extent.
