Summary/Abstract: Interpreting is not usually associated with specialist translation, although it is often practised in specialist oral communication situations. Students’ difficulties here concern not so much the memorisation and afterwards the use of specialist vocabulary during interpreting, but the linguistic correctness of the target texts in terms of general lexis, syntax and grammar, as students focus so much on the specialist vocabulary that linguistic correctness escapes them. The presented concept of specialised language work based on a cyclical progression of the degree of saturation of the translated texts with specialised terminology within the thematic issues pursued and throughout the course of the interpreting exercises shows how such problems can be effectively prevented.
