Summary/Abstract: This paper tries to explain how the smaller languages react to the influx of technical terms and how the terminology work in these languages is carried out in the age of digitalization. A particular focus is laid on the Scandinavian languages. In every Scandinavian country, there is a language authority, a language council, or a language committee. They were founded for different reasons and to accomplish different tasks. In the age of digitalization, their collaboration has increased. Iceland does not have its own specialized terminology group or terminology centre, and Icelandic faces certain obstacles in dealing with new technology, but the terminology work is excellent.
