Summary/Abstract: The paper examines political discourse through the lens of psycholinguistics. The focus is on speeches of Greek prime ministers in the period from the restoration of democracy (1974, the government of K. Karamanlis) to the last government of G. Papandreou – 2011. The main thesis is that some psycholinguistic characteristics of political speech have a significant contribution to its main purpose – conviction.
