Summary/Abstract: Culture-bound terms and lexemes, realia and/or culturemes are linguistic units that denote or carry cultural information. They are lexical items that have a specific connotative and affective-emotional meaning and that, because of their common cultural background, evoke similar associations in the members of a group or community. The issue of culturemes and realia has been addressed in international translation studies by several specialists (see, for example, the works of V. Skalkin, Vereşciagin and Kostomarov, Sipko, Vlahov and Florin, Newmark, Baker, Klaudy, Molina). In the present study, we will look at the Romanian literature on the subject (in the works of Lungu Badea, Moţoc, Ţaran Andreici, Ungureanu, etc.).
