Summary/Abstract: The integration of the Transylvanian Principality into the Habsburg Empire led to an increased interest in Catholic confessional historiography. This interest was not only of historical nature but also had a topical political function: to put the Catholic confession – which had been marginalized during the reign of the Principality – in a new light in the newly emerging political situation. Under these circumstances, two works on Transylvanian history were written almost simultaneously by Rudolf Bzenszky (1699) and István Lakatos (1702). The two authors not only knew but also influenced each other, and the direction and nature of this is partly known to researchers. The aim of our paper is to provide further data supporting this intercultural relationship.
