Summary/Abstract: As a professor, I am aware that the most delicate aspect of my work is assessing students. Through the learning activities designed for university students, I have realized that personalized assessment is a necessary approach that must be adapted to each student’, skills, and learning pace. This article outlines several arguments, challenges, and benefits of personalized assessment in working with students, as identified through exploratory interviews with professors from the Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiești. Personalized assessment significantly improves the quality of the higher education process by enabling more equitable and relevant evaluation, encouraging autonomy, engagement, and the development of valuable skills for student preparation. However, providing personalized assessment and constructive feedback requires a shift from traditional evaluation mindsets, a willingness to use additional resources, and overcoming challenges related to logistical complexity and maintaining objectivity in assessment.
