Summary/Abstract: It is an indisputable fact that there is no universally accepted definition of the concept of values, but values are present in every aspect of school work, especially in the nature, purpose and goals of upbringing and education. There is no unambiguous and generally accepted definition of education for values, but one of the ways of teaching about values is to advocate, promote, and live values in everyday life and work. The paper entitled «The contribution of academician Mladen Bevanda in the promotion of universal and traditional educational values in modern pedagogy» aims to shed light on the role of academician Bevanda through his pedagogical work, especially in the field of promoting values in education. Namely, the intention is to show Bevanda’s lifelong commitment, as someone who advocated that traditional and universal human values to be an integral part of upbringing and education in schools, so the aim of the research is to determine the theoretical and practical pedagogical contribution of academician Mladen Bevanda in promoting and positioning values as a necessity in educational - the educational context. We will perform this task first by studying the published scientific and professional texts of the Academician and determine the representation of valuable content in his works; then his pedagogic involvement as a professor at the Universities of Sarajevo and Mostar; then Bevanda’s public activity through media appearances - analyzing the contents of the address and determining the frequency of those with which he promotes values; and finally, analyzing his mentoring work on the preparation of graduation, master›s and doctoral theses whose topics belong to the fields that the academician was engaged in scientifically, especially those that contribute to the promotion of values. The basic scientific methods we will use are theoretical analysis, documentation analysis and content analysis, and the instrument will be a matrix for content analysis. Studying the mentioned sources, we will find a wealth of material, which will undoubtedly show the contribution of academician Bevanda in promoting values in education and this work, among other things, will contribute to the collection and systematization of such material. And we hope to promote educational values in today›s society.
