THE SILENT CONTRIBUTION OF ACADEMICIAN MLADEN BEVANDA

Summary/Abstract: The Catholic Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina has made various and indisputable contributions to the cultural, religious and educational field throughout the centuries of its presence and rootedness in this region. However, despite being aware of this fact and the truth, many have often ignored, suppressed and even deliberately and wrongly interpreted them for various reasons. On the other hand, these situations, when the truth was in danger, always brought silent and unobtrusive, hard-working people with bright minds and bold words to the surface, who would never allow the truth to be distorted. With their relentless work, based on arguments and mostly through the written word, they rose to defend the truth about our history, religion, culture and heritage. This paper will give a brief outline of a man of arguments and celebrate the man at least within the restrictions of the text, the relentless champion of the truth, a man with an accomplished life and academic career, the academician Mladen Bevanda. As a man and a scientist, the academician Mladen Bevanda, who went down the whole educational path, from being a teacher to becoming an academician, is the most qualified person to discuss the educational, historical, pedagogical topics and all the values and impacts that influence a person’s educational path. The aim of this paper is to depict the contribution of the academician Bevanda to promoting the truth and facts about the activities and contributions of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna in particular, its archbishop, as well as its educational institutions in the fields of religion, culture, history and education. This aim shall be fulfilled by analysing the scientific and professional papers and interventions of the academician Bevanda and by presenting the representation of promoting the activities of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna and its institutions within those papers; also, by analysing his educational involvement in his role as a professor at the University of Sarajevo and Mostar, which is in particularly reflected in providing his students with encouragement to do research and write diploma papers, master and doctoral theses about the institutions of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna. While doing so, basic scientific methods will be used such as: theoretical analysis, document analysis and content analysis, while the research instrument will be the content analysis matrix. The analysis of the previously mentioned sources will undoubtedly lead to a silent and relentless truth-lover and promoter of the truth about the Church and its pedagogical and educational contribution to BiH.
