Summary/Abstract: The development and advance of languages are happening in accordance with specific historical backgrounds. New words and phrases may exist and stay, while some are out of use gradually. Changes of the era's backgrounds and mentality promote the development of society. Languages show the nature of sociality in which the emerging new words reflect continuity and innovation. This paper will focus on the definition, causes, sources and characteristics of modern Chinese neologisms and their impacts on social lives.
