Summary/Abstract: The Union of the Romanian Principalities was a lengthy challenging process. God appoints the right people at the right times. Hence, He worked in the unification process of the Principalities. Such a person is the Metropolitan of Moldavia, Sofronie Miclescu (1851-1860). He had a significant role in this process. Starting with the year 1856, he committed to the fight for the objective of the Romanians. He was a tireless fighter, and his weapons were his words. He assailed the infringement committed by the leadership of those times, but also other anti-unionists. He had the honor of being the president of the Ad-hoc Assembly and the Elective Assembly, after which Colonel Alexandru Ioan Cuza became the ruler under which the Romanian Principalities were united. The contribution of this hierarch is praiseworthy, as he stood out for the honesty and perseverance with which he supported the union of Moldavia with Wallachia. Metropolitan Sofronie was one of the distinguished hierarchs who fought for the fulfillment of a goal, a dream and a hope that had been atrophied for many centuries.
