Summary/Abstract: The motivation for working in an online environment was analyzed in an international sample, including 175 participants from Bulgaria, China, the United Kingdom, India, Australia and the USA. Three factors of the motivation scale were identified through factor analysis using the principal components method, namely: 1. Autonomy, efficiency, and security of online work; 2. Policy of material and professional promotion; and 3. Organizational and psychological climate. Significant differences were found in the first two factors, as the results show that the Bulgarians in this sample are the most motivated to work online based on their assessment of autonomy, efficiency, security, and company incentive policies. Participants from India have the lowest motivation for these two factors.
