Summary/Abstract: Critical thinking is both a cognitive skill, an attitude and a pedagogical goal whose importance is continuously growing in the face of global social, technological and educational transformations. The purpose of this paper is to explore how critical thinking functions as a conceptual framework and practical tool in higher education. The research focuses on the application and development of critical thinking in education in the International Relations major at UNWE, as well as the development of innovative pedagogical approaches and practices in the context of the Language Buddy Project at the UNWE. The paper discusses the ways of integrating critical thinking into the educational process, the approaches and tools for developing critical thinking as a cognitive skill аmong students. Possibilities and limitations are evaluated and recommendations for better integration of critical thinking into educational process are made based on the analysis.
