Summary/Abstract: This study analyzes the professional realization and academic career advancement of scholars who obtained the scientific degree „Doctor“ in the professional field 3.1 „Sociology, Anthropology, and Cultural Studies“ between 1991 and 2024. Particular emphasis is placed on the changes following the adoption of the Act on the Development of the Academic Staff in the Republic of Bulgaria (ADASRB) in 2010. The analysis relies on data from the National Register of Academic Staff (NACID). Results indicate that the legislative changes of 2010 substantially reduced the time required for scholars to occupy academic positions, particularly among men and those employed at universities. The study also reveals significant gender disparities – women generally take longer to advance academically than men. Statistical data highlight clear differences between universities and research institutions, indicating that university-affiliated researchers achieve career progression more rapidly after legislative amendments.
