Summary/Abstract: This report analyzes models for measuring cultural differences by comparing Hofstede’s approach with the Global Collectivism Index (GCI). Although Hofstede’s model has made a significant contribution to the study of cultures, its nature fails to capture the contemporary dynamics of cultural change. Developed to eliminate Western biases, the GCI offers a more comprehensive analysis of collectivism across different countries. The report highlights Bulgaria’s complex cultural identity and concludes that the GCI is a more suitable tool for macro-level analysis of cultural trends in the context of globalization.
