Summary/Abstract: While children are specifically vulnerable to violence, girls and boys are affected at different rates by different types of violence. Sexual violence, early marriage, domestic violence and online violence disproportionately affect girls in Bulgaria. In contrast to adult trends, girls are victims o f crime more often than boys. The data also show some shortcomings of the social and justice system in guaranteeing the rights of survivors of violence, such as delayed case processing, failure of the courts to recognize domestic violence, etc., which lead to secondary victimization.
