Summary/Abstract: In 1774 Johanne Gotthilf Stritter published Bulgarica ex scriptores Byzantinis as a part of his work on the history of Slavic and some non-Slavic people. His voluminous work was one of the two main sources used in the book History of Bulgaria, published in 1802 by Athanasij Neškocić (who used as additional source an unknown historical work by a Catholic Bulgarian au-thor). This book has influenced the works of Serbian writer Jovan Sterija Popović and also had a significant effect on educated Bulgarian people, so Stritter’s history had some impact on the pro-cesses of Bulgarian National Revival.
