Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses names with the meaning of ‘bat’ in Bulgarian regional dialects, especially in the Rhodopi dialect. These names are compared with data gathered from Slavic dia-lects published in OLA. The results are represented on maps based on the methods of linguistic ge-ography.
