Summary/Abstract: Most of the Iranian borrowed words in Bulgarian are considered to be of Persian origin and to be a result of five centuries Bulgarian-Turkish ethno-cultural and linguistic relations, i.e. coming from Turkish like a number of Arabic words, borrowed in Bulgarian during the time when Bulgaria was a part of the Ottoman Empire. The study of Iranian borrowed words from etnolingvistic point of view shows that some of them could have been borrowed earlier. These are the names of headscarves сокай // сукай, санкуле, шал, тюлбèн, тюрбан, пош, чембер, пешкùр and пештемал which also belong to the group of so-called Turkish loanwords.
