Summary/Abstract: The present paper is an attempt to present the variety of literary and dialectal terms and notions related to pregnancy and the notion of pregnant woman in Bulgarian (i.e. conditions, signs and processes in relation to pregnancy). Relevant names are grouped and sorted by Nomina-tion signs – according to the time course of pregnancy. In addition to the linguistic analysis, some beliefs associated with pregnancy are discussed in order to gain a more clear view of this important condition of the woman.
