Summary/Abstract: A specific phenomenon of Bulgarian language is the homonymy between argument dative clitics and possessive clitics. This paper presents an analysis of ambiguous sentences with a dative clitic in verb-adjacent position. Usually, it is the clausal Dative position but the possibility of having a possessive interpretation proves that here possessive pronouns can appear after their movement outside the DP (the so-called “possessor raising”). Two distinct constructions expressing possession are recognized – with possessive clitic in a DP-external position and with an argument dative clitic as external possessor.
