Summary/Abstract: Psycho-oncology as a specific intervention field for helpers (e.g. clinical social workers, psychologists, nurses, priests) and as a research area is to be considered a new, developing reality in Romania. This paper aims to summarize the basic dilemmas, questions from the beginning period and points out some useful professional and personal experiences acquired during the last 4 years of psycho-oncology work, but also raises new perspectives in psycho-oncology research and intervention based on study, evaluation and integration of personal and family narratives.
