Summary/Abstract: The article is concerned first and foremost with the media activity of terrorist groups. In the article, the author explains the reasons why terrorist organizations publish various media content in English for the broadly defined Western extremists on the Internet. The article focuses on cinematic works in particular; it characterizes the beginnings of this practice, introduces types of classification for this sort of material and traces the origins of this phenomenon. The media activity of the so‑called Islamic State (ISIS) constitutes the empirical point of reference for the article. The paper describes the most well‑known films produced by entities connected with ISIS, as well as answers the question why terrorist organization publish such brutal content online. In her argument, the author relies on definitions of terrorism which characterize this phenomenon as a way of achieving political objectives through deft manipulation by threatening to use violent force (whether it be a real or just a possible outcome) and the effect it produces.
