Summary/Abstract: Following the historical method, the presented paper traces the first footsteps of marketing evolution as an independent scientific discipline. We describe the rise of marketing as a university discipline. The first marketing books within the period 1900-1910 are discussed. The proportions of marketing publications in English, Russian, German, French, and Chinese are analyzed via Google’s Ngram Viewer.
