Summary/Abstract: In the research a semantic analysis is made of metaphors and metonymies from journalistic articles of Martin Karbovski. The differential semes are characterized, which are contained in the semantic structure of the word, with which the relevant lexeme is linked in a metaphoric combination of words. With the metonymies, the semes are analyzed, on the grounds of which the constant link between the notions expressed by the lexemes in the combination of words is ascertained
