Summary/Abstract: The aim of this document is to start a discussion on the topic “What is the fastest way to implement in Bulgaria the new standard “Trauma system”.Historically speaking the question of higher survival rate of heavily injured trauma patients (including in critical conditions) was placed during and after the wars in Korea and Vietnam. Military doctors implemented some organizational principles, in urban conditions they are met with complete unpreparedness for adequate and fast response as an answer to trauma and critical conditions. They, together with former pilots of helicopters (evacuated injured) and additional personnel, found the American Trauma Society (ATS).In the university of Maryland (1961-1963) began the discussion on the matter and after a few more steps, a National Trauma System was established, which was later supported by the law (in 1992). Same applies to other countries with some small modifications. In our country, despite the few implemented elements of it, such a system does not yet exist.
