Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to identify the main determinants that will strengthen or weaken the negative impact of Brexit on the process of integrating the financial markets in the EU. First of all, it explains what integration of financial markets in the EU is and illustrates the current state of it. It elaborates both the de jure and the de facto situation. In this context, it shows the importance of the UK for the EU internal market regarding the provision of financial services in the conditions of the membership in the EU as well as under alternative modes of access to the EU internal market.
