Summary/Abstract: The article consists of four parts. Part one refers to the theses presented by Z. Czerwiński in the article "Is economics a science?" Parts two and three concern the methods of scientific cognition in social sciences introduced by C. Menger in the dissertation "Untersuchungen über die Methode der Sozialwissenschaften und der Politischen Oekonomie insbesondere". Part two presents Menger’s typology of resource allocation sciences with reference to the division of the phenomena into two classes, i.e. individual and general ones. Part three describes two directions of theoretical research, and indicates their significance in explicating the phenomena occurring in the field of resource allocation processes. The last part contains the summary along with the key conclusions.
