Summary/Abstract: The institutional structure of the forestry sector includes the following main elements: institutional entities at national, regional and local level and institutions in the forestry sector, which include: forestry policy, forest legislation, criteria, indicators, certification scheme. It can be seen as a system in which the individual components are in a direct relationship, interdependence and interaction. On this basis, the issue of the correctness and adequacy of the forest management decision-making at the highest level, the need to improve management and to make the necessary changes in the institutional environment. The review of literary sources and analyzes shows that problems related to institutional structure and change have not been fully resolved in both theoretical and practical terms.
