Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with word order models in Bulgarian VP. Two word order models in VP are examined: 1) subject – modal expression – verb – object; 2) (subject) – verb – modal expression – object. The analysis shows that these word order models are a result from the communicative intention of the speaker to express certain content. The results from the analysis also show that semantic and syntactic constraints are imposed on this communicative intention of the speaker. As a result, pragmatic, syntactic and semantic factors are in interplay when the observed word order models are realized.
