Summary/Abstract: This article describes the newly discovered first poetry (lyrics) in Modern Bulgarian printed in 1793 in Rome as a part of a multilinigual book. The Bulgarian text was written by an unnamed Bulgarian student at a Catholic school who was well acquainted with the Cyrillic alphabet and the written tradition of the Bulgarian Orthodox literature and had also been heavily influenced by the tradition of the Dalmatian poetry.
