Summary/Abstract: The mechanisms of state support of agriculture in developed countries are considered in the articles, and how they contribute on rural employment are disclosed. The examples of state support for rural development activities in the US, Canada, France and India are shown. Particular attention is paid to the program approach in solving the problems of rural employment. Providing employment in rural areas in Ukraine is offered in the framework of the concept of multifunctionality of agriculture, diversification of the rural economy, expanding the scope of application of labor in rural areas, the spread of non-standard forms of employment, encourage entrepreneurship, strengthening state support of small and mediumsized producers, supporting their cooperation.
