Summary/Abstract: This report presents a brief reading of the possibilities for reimbursement of the cost for healthcare provided in a EU Member State, other than the country of affiliation. The main purpose is to outline the main paths, principles, similarities and differences. The regulatory framework of the European Union and its consistency with the Bulgarian legislation is analyzed regarding the rights of Bulgarian patients - health insured persons, to get the coverage of the costs of treatment abroad by their own institution of insurance.
