Summary/Abstract: This article aims to discuss several selected issues, with a particular emphasis on the problem of taboo in translation, concerning the Polish translation and reception of a particular type of British novel for teenagers – a diary written by a teenager. The article focuses on the selected problems of Polish translation (done by myself) of Joanna Nadin’s popular The Rachel Riley Diaries series and gives a brief overview of its most significant translation determinants. My discussion is situated within a broader context of contemporary teenage fiction analysis with a particular emphasis on the problems of Polish literature for teenage readers and the politics of the publishing market.
