Summary/Abstract: The article discusses mainly Brief Interviews with Hideous Men by David Foster Wallace. The author analyses the text by making references to other texts by Wallace but also to Polish literature. Kącka is interested in finding a peculiar context of common artistic sensibilities and a similar vision of the world, which is why she traces points of convergence, of existential and interpretative analogies between David Foster Wallace’s and Ireneusz Iredyński’s immanent poetics. One of the main aesthetic categories discussed by Kącka are provocation (including literary provocation) and disgust. In her opinion, the category of disgust is precisely the element which connects these two authors.
