Summary/Abstract: Speaking of the aging of the senses from the point of view of genetic diseases, the first association that comes to our mind is progeria, the syndrome also called“premature aging”. Rightly so, but we must remember that the process ofaccelerated aging also occurs in Down syndrome, which is the most commongenetically conditioned disease, as well as in many other rare and ultra-raregenetic syndromes, such as ataxia-telangiectasia, Bloom and Cockayne syndromes,Fanconi anemia, Rothmund-Thomson syndrome, trichothiodystrophy, xeroderma pigmentosum (parchment and pigment skin) or Werner syndrome (also known as adult progeria). Many other genes participate in this process, the exact function of which is still unknown in many cases.
