Summary/Abstract: "Green" growth is at the heart of innovative intelligence specialization strategies. Eco-innovation is crucial to tackling the challenges of resource scarcity, air, water and soil pollution or water efficiency. Reducing inputs, waste, and releases of harmful substances along the value chain, and promoting the reuse, recycling and substitution of resources, limits the negative impact on the environment, creates opportunities for growth and jobs and at the same time increases the competi-tiveness of the economy. Innovation can play an important role in the transition to resource efficiency. Innovation, and especially eco-innovation, helps develop the new technologies, processes, products, services and business models needed to change our patterns of production and consumption.
