Summary/Abstract: John Chrysostom was teaching exceptionally often about poverty and relationships between rich and poor people – besides a radical condemnation of the oppression and injustice, he has ordered the alms and another works of mercy as necessary means of Salvation. His beliefs was rooted in the theological anthropology, which emphasized the dignity of man – who has rights as being created in the image and likeness of God. Teaching of this Church Father living at the turn of the 4th and 5th century in spite of civilization changes is still current and worthy of conducting an analysis.
