External accreditations as an effective tool for quality management at university language centres

Summary/Abstract: Introducing new regulations by the Ministry of Higher Education engaged the whole academia in a heated discussion about the shape of future education in Poland. The new reform aims at pushing the number of innovations as well as the prestige of Polish universities to the higher level due to the new administrative systems of the units, quality management systems, staff career development or internationalisation. However, the issues connected with the quality of language education seem to be excluded from the debate. This article will discuss the process of accreditation as a tool to obtain the required results at language centres with the dedicated assessment methods featured by EAQUALS and SERMO associations.
