Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the six basic types of handwritten notes found in six ephemeras (multiannual calendars) from the 16th century, preserved at the University Library in Poznań: provenance notes, extracts and recipes, marginalia, annalistic notes, as well as personal registers, diary notes and drawings. The owners of the manuscripts, as well as the authors of the marginalia were Jan Żdżarowski, Kasper Goski, Adam Paulini of Pobiedziska, an unidentified Jesuit priest, and at least two other inhabitants of 16th-century Poznań, including most likely a doctor. All the authors and original owners of the ephemeras (predominantly clergy or doctors) were connected with Poznań and belonged to the city elites of that time. In the description of the marginalia and other pieces of textual evidence of the calendars’ use, the author notes that some of them can help with identification of calendars and diaries lacking any marks of provenance.
