Summary/Abstract: The present paper aims to emphasize the role of word-formation in teaching German as a foreign language. It demonstrates that the word-formation competence – whose development should constitute an indispensable element of foreign language teaching – is of utmost importance in the process of learning. This paper focuses on the stages of word-formation competence development among learners at the A and B levels of language proficiency.
