Summary/Abstract: For Slovakia, all of whose administrative regions may be considered as border regions since each of them has a certain area that lies along the national border, it is important to understand the situation in border areas and what forms and opportunities for regional cross-border cooperation are on the horizon. In this respect, the Prešov Self-Governing Region (eastern Slovakia) and Ukraine’s Zakarpattia Oblast are no exception.
