Summary/Abstract: The article discusses influence of translation transformations on the reception of the French artist’s painting. The analysis of the title in an original version and its translation into other languages aims at investigating its relationship with iconographic layer of the painting as well as analysing how specific translator’s suggestions can shape the perspective of recipient’s expectations.
