Summary/Abstract: Qualitative and quantitative methods are very often opposed today. The demarcation line that separates them is becoming clearer. And that’s not how it was before, so it does not have to be like that today, because both approaches serve to the scientific cognition of social reality. The author argues that both the quality and quantity are not the most important concepts in social sciences, their methodology and research methods. He is in favour of combining scientific methods, the awareness of strengths and weaknesses and constant improvement. As of secondary importance he treats research declarations present in a part of contemporary research plans, especially those declarations that are rigid and even dogmatic. The article ends with a conclusion referring to the need for applying both approaches, methodological discussion and the development of theories.
