- Summary/Abstract:Qualitative and quantitative methods are very often opposed today. The demarcation line that separates them is becoming clearer. And that’s not how it was before, so it does not have to be like that today, because both approaches serve to the scientific cognition of social reality. The author argues that both the quality and quantity are not the most important concepts in social sciences, their methodology and research methods. He is in favour of combining scientific methods, the awareness of strengths and weaknesses and constant improvement. As of secondary importance he treats research declarations present in a part of contemporary research plans, especially those declarations that are rigid and even dogmatic. The article ends with a conclusion referring to the need for applying both approaches, methodological discussion and the development of theories.

- Summary/Abstract:With the use of the hermeneutic analysis of academic texts and of critical theory the Internet has been presented as a social and cultural research space in social sciences. The most important eatures of global network have been characterized and such aspects have been discussed that are studied in the framework of ethnographical and anthropological research in our institute, namely communication process and its semiotic character, a creation of social networks, virtual groups of self-help for stigmatized people, sharenting and activity of children and youth on the Internet.

- Summary/Abstract:The study raises questions that arise in the context of research in the school and its wider context. School reality, processes and educational subjects take place in transparent environment of the school as an institution. Pedagogical research is a specific part of school life, which has several levels. Applied research on schools, pupils and teacher believes in? the conservation and protection of personal data. Action research is connected with schools’ daily life. The problems opened in this context are of ethical character: is the right to use research tools, use of research findings in accordance with ethics, or is it a threat? Research on children in a learning process is an unanswered ethical problem: teachers need and require a lot of information about children for their work, they have to obtain it via transparent manner. The aim is to find an optimal way for child´s support. Is it ethical to use these data also for research and generalisation? Who is responsible for conducting research in school,researcher, school, teachers or parents? On the other hand, science needs to work with real data to generalize knowledge 13

Each teacher is required to develop the ability to evaluate media messages, uncover what is valuable, in order to manage his or her personal and professional growth in a positive way. Well-performed media education can make pupils more sensitive to quality media content. - Summary/Abstract:A success in developing children media literacy in young school age stems from the enthusiasm of teachers and parents, their effective cooperation, as well as their interest in development of their competences in the field of media education. Parents who are in close relation with a child need to have the competences that help their children in shaping of their personalities with regard to the edia sphere. The paper presents partial results of research aimed at investigating the interest in training and learning portals of the primary education teachers and parents to help them in developing their media competences. - Summary/Abstract:This article presents the concept and fragments of the analyses of studies covering 369 pre-school children, which took place in different Polish cities in 2016. These were diagnostic and exploratory studies, the main aim of which was to identify and analyse specific manifestations of wisdom in children of senior pre-school age, during mental activity involving open tasks. Such studies and analyses of the research material collected could only be possible using mixed methods, which facilitated a better organisation of these studies and allowed for broader conclusions to be drawn, also with regard to generalisations of the results of the studies conducted.

- Summary/Abstract:The Big Data tools developed for marketing research, in particular the free YouTube Analytics system, have created unprecedented possibilities in the field of pedagogical research. YouTube’s provision of educational videos and presentations involves obtaining access to a number of reports and their comparisons. This solution allows the researcher not to deal with the collection and development of observational data. His/Her task concerns only their interpretation. The ability to track indicators concerned with maintaining attention together with the mechanisms of filtering reports according to demographic data, sources of access, time, etc., allows for the formulation of a very wide range of research problems. The mass character of this type of implicit observation offers researchers new ways of interpreting the behaviour of students, and, above all, modifying and implementing the educational media tested.

- Summary/Abstract:The aim of the article is to show the impact of drama classes on the degree of students’ eloquence and the ability to write correctly and develop argumentation at the gymnasium Polish language exam. The theoretical part evokes opinions of drama theoreticians and practitioners referring to the use of drama in the teaching and upbringing process. The practical part presents the relationship between drama and language education of pupils as well as the results of OKE reports from 2016 and 2017 regarding the issues of linguistic correctness, and especially the correct construction of sentences. - Summary/Abstract:This article focuses on the issue of motivation, which from a teacher’s point of view belongs to the psychological field of study. Nowadays the world gives us much more possibilities than ever before. Despite this fact, the main motivational factor in Polish schools are still grades, which are the tools of extrinsic motivation. It is worth considering whether extrinsic motivation, which boils down to the reward and punishment system, is able to help learners to find energy, courage and strength to respond the different challenges and make their dreams come true. Is it working? Does it give the learners confidence and courage? Does it encourage to want more? The answers to these questions may be found in this article. There are not many studies in Poland which concern the role of motivation in schools. The article presents two analyses of research results on primary-school children motivation and on effectiveness of different ways of motivating used by teachers of primary schools. It takes into consideration the fact that in the case of primary-school children motivation is still developing.
