Summary/Abstract: The article deals with a topical issue of media education of pupils, which is conditioned upon greater understanding, broadening and deepening media competences of the teacher. Each teacher is required to develop the ability to evaluate media messages, uncover what is valuable, in order to manage his or her personal and professional growth in a positive way. Well-performed media education can make pupils more sensitive to quality media content. It can help them find their own balanced way in order to become more sensitive to quality media content, and, in the meantime, to be able to protect themselves in a more effective way against negative influences of media.
