Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to emphasize the importance of research for improving educational activities through describing and explaining their effects and implementing changes. The school has been characterised as a researching and researched institution, also teacher’s research roles have been described. It points to the need for conducting research which is targeted at progress involving researchers, scientists and practising teachers. The article presents the outline of research idea and first results of research conducted on school and teacher’s expectations regarding educational research.
